HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — An El Salvador man who was previously deported after stabbing someone illegally reentered the country and hit people in the head with a baseball bat in Hamden, according to authorities.

Fredy Adalberto Guardado Salgado, 43, was sentenced on Wednesday to 15 months in prison for illegally reentering the country.

He was deported in December 2010 after being convicted for a second-degree assault that included a stabbing. He was arrested by Hamden police in August 2023 for hitting multiple people in the head with a bat.

He remains in federal custody. The state charges against him are pending.
