SOUTHPORT, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Just over a thousand dollars are raised in a barbecue chicken dinner fundraiser to support a woman named Amy Kelce of Elmira’s Southside. More than sixty-five meals were prepared to help offset expenses for Kelce and her family while recovering from neck surgery.

Co-owner, Paula Biggs of Ransom’s Cluck & Smoke expressed how she wanted to organize a fundraiser to help Kelce while she was away from work. Biggs says that every dollar made from each meal will be allocated to support Kelce.

“I knew she needed some help, and she was going to be off of work for a long time, and I see her all the time at the store, and I said, ‘Let’s do a chicken barbecue for you,’ and that’s what we did,” said Biggs.

One of the customers Trina Davis hopes the fundraiser will raise significant funds to provide financial benefit for Kelce.

“I hope it pays the bills for something, because it’s very hard when you’re not working and you depend on that money,” said Davis

In addition, Biggs told 18 News she plans to have a BBQ chicken fundraiser for the Elmira Animal Shelter at Mimi’s Lounge in October. The date for that has not yet been scheduled.
