Burrow was 29-of-38 for 324 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-33 loss on Monday to the Washington Commanders. The Bengals defense couldn’t handle Washington rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels or its running game. At a press conference on Wednesday, Burrow said he would speak up more often, especially as the team is looking up from the basement in the standings. “I’ve never been a big picture vocal kind of guy,” Burrow said. “But that’s more what I’m talking about - the big picture and work ethic. I always pick my spots and I’ve never been that guy and it’s not a big part of who I am. But there are some spots where it’s needed.” Burrow said the 0-3 start can be felt around the locker room.“Moods are a little different,” Burrow said. “The energy is heightened when you’re in this spot. Knowing what we have ahead of us is a tall task.” Burrow was asked about vocal leaders he played with in the past. He said the best was his former teammate J.T. Barrett at Ohio State.“He was always the pre-game speech guy,” Burrow said. “Fiery and a vocal guy. That was never me but he was impressive.” Burrow said he wouldn’t be talking too much. Teammates recognize it quickly when someone is trying to be someone they’re not. “You have to be yourself,” Burrow said. “People will see through it if you’re not. Burrow got into the play by throwing a block at a Washington defender, knocking him off stride. “Zach made four people miss on the front side, and I figure I would help him out and get in the way,” Burrow said. It was noted to Burrow that he threw the block with his left non-throwing show. “Definitely the left,” Burrow said. Trenton Brown out for the seasonBengals offensive tackle Trenton Brown suffered a knee injury in he first half and is done for the year. Amarius Mims, Cincinnati’s first-round draft pick, made his debut only a couple plays before Brown was hurt. When Mims entered the game, it looked like Burrow whispered something to him in the huddle. Burrow said he just wanted to give some encouragement. “I didn’t say much, I patted him on the shoulder pads,” Burrow said. “I don’t think I said anything. It was my way of saying it’s time to go. He’s a good player, he had a good camp. He’s a smart player. I’m excited to watch him play and he’s going to be a good one.” Burrow on Andy DaltonAndy Dalton, a Pro Bowl quarterback with the Bengals before Burrow’s arrival, had his first start last week with Carolina in their win against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
