The WNBA recently announced the winner of the Most Improved Player Award following the end of the 2024 regular season.

Connecticut Sun star DiJonai Carrington received the award after notching a career-high in nearly every statical category, including points, rebounds, assists, field goals made, free throws made, and steals.

Carrington finished the 2024 regular season averaging 12.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game. She concluded the 2023 season averaging 8.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.6 steals per game.

While she certainly made a substantial jump in her season averages, Chicago Sky fans weighed in on the situation.

Many fans believe Sky star Chennedy Carter should have received the award. Carter finished at No. 4 in the Most Improved Player voting.

A few other stars, like Dearica Hamby and Bridget Carleton, were ahead of Carter in the final voting.

    "Snubbed!!" said one fan.

"Most underrated player in the league," said another fan.

"Well deserved for Dijonai, but Chennedy deserves more than 3 votes," commented one fan.

"lol 3 votes for Carter is diabolical. This league is not serious at all." mentioned one fan.

"3 votes for Chen is mad," said one fan.

"Well deserved but Carter should’ve got more votes," said another fan.

During the 2024 season, Carter averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. She led the Sky in scoring despite averaging the least playing time for the starters, 26 minutes per game.

While she had a successful season with Chicago, Carter wasn't in the league in 2023. Her last WNBA season came in 2022 when she was a role player with the Los Angeles Sparks.

Carter started two of 24 games for Los Angeles in 2022 and averaged 8.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

After departing from the WNBA in 2023, Carter played for the Heilongjiang Dragons in China.

Carrington's WNBA experience and role on the No. 3 team in the WNBA may have contributed to her winning the Most Improved Player award.

The Sun finished the season with a 28-12 record, while Chicago ended the year as the No. 10 seed with a 13-27 record.

Despite the stats, Chicago Sky fans weren't pleased with Carter receiving just three votes from league voters.
