    Suspect charged after armed robbery at a pharmacy in Belmont

    BELMONT, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A suspect has been charged after an armed robbery Wednesday afternoon in Belmont.

    Around 1 p.m., Belmont Police Department officers responded to an armed robbery at the College Park Pharmacy at 682 Park Street.

    The suspect, later identified as Cody Alexander Gardner, 29, entered the pharmacy, brandished his firearm and demanded money from the cashier.

    Gardner fled the business on foot. A K9 officer tracked the Gardner to 21 Dunn Street, where he was arrested.

    Gardner has been charged with armed robbery and remains in custody at the Gaston County Jail.
