If legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson were alive today, what would he say about this affair at Bryant-Denny?

It’s a showdown destined to happen: #2 Georgia takes on #4 Alabama in front of 100,000 fans and millions of viewers worldwide. This is the Ali-Frazier of College Football.Ironically, similar to that trilogy, this very well could be the first of three meetings this season between the programs, assuming they square off as they did last December in the SEC Title Game. Factor in the expanded 12 game playoff, and anything is possible.

With hype at an unprecedented level, be sure to pull out your best Flavor Flav rendition and “Don’t Believe The Hype” as it pertains to certain sub plots.

Myth #1: Georgia is no longer formidable at stopping the run. This is largely due to a lackluster outing against Kentucky, in which the Wildcats racked up 170 yards on the ground.

Myth #2: London Humphreys contracting mono and missing Saturday night is a huge loss to the Bulldogs passing game. In actuality, London hasn’t appeared in the actual stat sheet since the opener vs. Clemson.

Myth 3: Nick Saban is perfectly content being in a suit on the ESPN broadcast set. Don’t you believe it!

Ultimately, the outcome of this contest will be determined by the performance of the quarterbacks. With that in mind, Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe could potentially emerge as frontrunners in the Heisman Race after Saturday night.

Chris Huston from The Official Heisman Trophy Podcast believes this is the case. “This is the first big text for Milroe. If he’s instrumental in helping Alabama defeat Georgia, he’ll vault to the top of the Heisman food chain,” said Huston. “Beck needs to increase his production overall, but same deal, if he plays at a high level and helps Georgia win, he could be the front runner as well.”

One thing is for sure, except for our friends in Austin, this will greatly influence the upcoming weeks in the college football landscape.
