EVANS, Ga (WJBF) – At Jordan Family Dentistry in Grovetown the staff helps build and restore smiles and maintain dental health.

“I had a sweet friend who was a Dentist and I went and shadowed and after the first day I watched him work with his patients. I knew that’s what I wanted to do,” explains Dr. Melissa Jordan.

For practice owner, Dr. Melissa Jordan, being in Dentistry is not just about business..
It’s about her passion for helping people both on and off the clock.

She says, “some of my favorite patients are patients with a local drug recovery program and when they get to a certain part of the program we’ll step in sometimes to help them and kind of sponsor their dental work and it’s the part of the program where they’re moving out of the really intensive therapy and they’re moving out into the workforce. Just not wanting to have the stigma and look like a drug addict because that’s not who they are anymore.”

Part of her purpose has led Dr. Jordan to spearhead efforts to raise money in honor of a local student, Ella, who fought a battle against Leukemia and won.

“We raised through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. So, as part of their ‘Visionary of the Year’ campaign last year me and a team of my friends and family worked together to raise almost $75,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.”

As a Dentist and business owner, Dr. Jordan has a lot of roles.

But, her favorite titles are wife and mother to four children.

Not only does she help others through her business she and her husband are doing the same at home as foster parents to a little boy.

“For us, when we saw the need in our area, by actually stepping in to the foster care system we saw how many children need just a safe place and a soft place to land and that’s what we wanted to be.”

These are just a few of the reasons why Dr. Melissa Jordan is one of our “Women To Watch.”
