While renovations have not begun on most of these locations yet, one is currently preparing to hold its official grand opening. The G-Spot Daq 2 Go is tentatively scheduled to cut the ribbon on Nov. 1. G-Spot Daq 2 Go, located in the Red River District, held a soft opening during the Humor and Harmony weekend last month, hosting locals and weekend visitors. According to Shreveport Downtown Development Authority (DDA) vice-chair Drayden Dunn, Jackson is looking to invest even more.“50 Cent was in town last week and held a bunch of meetings during his tenure, but one comment he made was about the lighting downtown. He did make a comment about that a few times,” said Dunn. “The second thing was his real estate acquisitions. It seems like he is hell-bent on being the number one landowner, so I think he is interested in buying some more properties.” This includes the property at 421 Market Street formerly home to Dripp Donuts. In April, Dripp Donuts owners closed the door on their business due to structural issues with the building. The business took to Instagram claiming that Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation (DSDC) was uncooperative when it came to addressing the matter. The building was demolished in May.“Just so you know DSDC is our sister organization and Dripp Donuts is suing them over the issue,” said DDA interim director Janey Landry. “What that means is unless their legal counsel can get the lease for the building indemnified it’s causing a delay in our ability to sell the property to G-Unit.” According to Landry, G-Unit is aware of the issue, but is still interested in purchasing the parcel. She said, “They need that parcel for the property they bought adjacent, so we are doing our best to get that resolved.” To date G-Unit has purchased the following properties downtown: <ul><li>218 Texas Street (purchased 5/31/24 for $275,000) </li><li>205 Texas Street (purchased 5/31/24 for $345,000) </li><li>Lots 1 –13 &amp; ½ on 301 Spring Street (purchased 6/13/24 for $1,020,000) </li><li>115, 119, 125, 129 Texas Street (purchased 6/13/24 for $281,250) </li><li>308-310 Commerce Street (purchased 6/14/24 for $76,872) </li><li>401 Spring Street (purchased 6/15/24 for $150,000) </li><li>611 Texas Street (purchased 6/28/24 for $150,000) </li></ul></div></body>
