UNCASVILLE, CT.—The season ended Wednesday night for the Indiana Fever with an 87-81 loss to the Connecticut Sun in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.

With the win, the Sun won the best-of-three series 2-0.

The Sun led by as many as 11. The Fever’s biggest lead was 9.

The Fever’s Aliyah Boston hit a bucket to put Indiana ahead 77-75 with 2:05 left but then DeWanna Bonner knocked down a three to give the Sun the lead at 78-77. The Sun wouldn’t trail again after that.

Indiana guard Caitlin Clark scored 25 points while having 9 assists and six rebounds. That makes Clark the first rookie in the WNBA history to have 25 points, five rebounds, and five assists in a playoff game. She also played all 40 minutes.

Five players from the Sun finished with double figures. They were led by Alyssa Thomas with 19 points and 13 assists.

It was Indiana’s first playoff appearance in eight years.

They went 20-20 in the regular season after winning 30 games in the previous four seasons combined.
