The Hokies fell to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 26-23 last Saturday. In this game there were a few breakdowns in all three phases of the game, but one play in particular really gave the Hokies defense fits. Its was an RPO play that Rutgers ran off of split zone option look that was in essence, a quadruple option. Rutgers ran this play almost a dozen times throughout the game and used motion and formation to get the Hokies outnumbered. The Hokies eventually made the necessary adjustments but it took a toll on the Hokies and allowed Rutgers to build a lead that turned out to be insurmountable.
