The Lions sit at 1-5 (0-2 NE10) while the Mavericks improve to 5-1 (2-0 NE10).How it Happened<ul><li>Freshman goalie Kalya Balsamo made an early save after a corner for Mercy and followed it up with two more saves to keep the Mavericks scoreless in the first 15 minutes of play.</li><li>Mercy's Rachel Palladino broke the stalemate with an assist from Madison Preston in the 36th minute.</li><li>Freshman Samantha Naples had a late opportunity in the third quarter, but her shot was stopped by Mercy's goalkeeper, Rebecca McClure.</li><li>Senior Devin Harkins saw her shot blocked early in the fourth quarter.</li><li>Preston doubled the Mavericks' lead with a goal assisted by Palladino.</li><li>The Lions pressed Mercy's defense with two corners late in the fourth quarter, but were unable to capitalize, securing a 2-0 victory for the home team.</li></ul>Top Performances<ul><li>Balsamo made a career-high 12 saves in net.</li><li>Junior Gianna Mastrocco led the offense, taking two shots, including one on net.</li><li>Naples, Harkins, and sophomore Farah Amarando each took one shot a piece.</li></ul>The Lions head to Colchester, Vt. to play against Saint Michael's College on Saturday (Sept. 28) at 11:00 a.m.</div></body>
