    Cricket swarms are back in North Texas … with a vengeance

    No, it's not your imagination - North Texas is under invasion from crickets right now.

    As summer shifts into fall, North Texas is seeing a surge in black field crickets, particularly after dry seasons followed by heavy rains.

    I discovered the true Texas 'killing fields' of crickets as I walked into our KRLD Radio Headquarters building this week. (Photo above)

    These crickets are said to lay eggs in bare soil during the fall, with the eggs hatching the following spring.

    Experts recommend reducing outdoor lighting and using natural repellents like peppermint or citronella to keep these pests at bay, rather than relying on insecticides.
