With my abusive situation ~ the 2nd time he laid hands on me. ~ I packed my things along with my 2 & 6 year old. We slept on a friend's sofa for a couple of days & then went to live with Mom until I could get on my feet. EVERYTIME he showed up with drama ~ I dialed 911. Eventually ~ he left me alone. I say all that to say ~ i did not like the physical pain that he inflicted upon me. THAT CRAP HURTS! So he just stopped eventually... so, yeah ~ I left & did NOT come back NOR did I entertain his drama!!!

It's easy to say, "Why don't you just leave." For someone who's never been in an abusive relationship, they don't understand the complexity of the situation. The mental abuse can be worse than the physical abuse. No one deserves abuse of any kind.
