ATHENS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire at a vacant building in Athens Township.

The Athens Township Fire Department said it happened shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday at the former Athens Auto Body near the intersection of N. Capital Avenue and Veterans Drive.

The fire caused the roof to cave in, causing the building to be considered a total loss, according to the fire department.

The cause of the fire is unknown. There were no reports of injuries.

The fire department said the fire remains under investigation.
