Two northbound lanes on Liberty Street SE will close beginning Sunday to allow for repairs near the bridge over Pringle Creek.

The project is expected to last four weeks and be completed by November. Repairs will include a combination of daytime and nighttime work.

Crews will excavate and construct a new concrete bridge approach slab to address ongoing maintenance issues.

Two northbound lanes on Liberty Street SE between Oak Street SE and Trade Street SE will close in phases, starting with the left lanes and shifting to the right lanes.

The project is part of the voter-approved 2022 Safety and Livability Bond, which includes replacing noncompliant ADA curb ramps and sidewalks, resurfacing the roadway, and installing improved bicycle markings and safety features.

City officials said drivers should anticipate congestion in the area, plan extra time in their commute into downtown Salem and use caution.
