UNDATED (09/26/24) — Even though Hurricane Helene will make landfall hundreds of miles away from Kentucky, the impacts of the storm will still be felt here. Landfill of what is expected to be a major hurricane is projected for Thursday afternoon/evening in the Florida panhandle, but the storm will remain intact as it moves inland and to the north. Forecasters say remnants of Helene will impact our region through the weekend, most notably early Friday through Friday night. Widespread rainfall between 2 and 4 inches and gusty winds between 30 to 40 mph will be most common.
