(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Cook County judge has sided with village trustees in Dolton and has ordered that the mayor not make appointments without approval by the trustees.

The outcome means three recent appointments by Mayor Tiffany Henyard — for the posts of village manager, village attorney and police chief — are blocked. They will not be able to take office.

Henyard and a majority of trustees have been at odds for about one year, with each side accusing the other of illegally conducting business.

The latest ruling comes as an investigation, which has not yet been completed, found the village is deep in the red and as trustees raise questions about how the mayor is spending village money.

Henyard has denied any wrongdoing. The FBI, meanwhile, has served subpoenas at village hall.
