<div>ADDISON COUNTY — A Leicester man is still battling for his health after being struck by a car while walking along Lake Dunmore Road in Leicester two weeks ago.Vermont State Police report that 54-year-old Timothy Lester was walking on the side of the northbound lane a little before 5:45 a.m. on Sept. 11. At the same time, Benjamin Kandzior, 43, of Leicester was driving a 2019 Ram 1500 pickup southbound on the same road at a reasonable speed. Police said multiple loose dogs from a nearby residence ran into the road in front of the pickup, and, to avoid hitting the dogs, Kandzior swerved into the northbound lane and struck Lester.Lester was transported by helicopter to UVM Medical Center, where initially he was in stable condition while undergoing treatment for head injuries.UVM Medical Center did not return a call asking for Lester’s condition this week, but a neighbor said the injury was pretty serious.Troopers did not charge Kandzior with any crimes since it was dark, Lester did not wear reflective gear and the dogs were loose in the road. Police did notify the town about the uncontrolled dogs.Troopers were assisted on scene by the local fire department and Middlebury Regional EMS.In other recent activity, Vermont State Police troopers:• On Sept. 13 at a quarter to 3 a.m. responded to a family fight at the Waterhouses Campground in Salisbury. Police allege that Kevin L. Connors, 44, of Hartland caused bodily injury to a household member. Troopers took Connors into custody and cited him for domestic assault.• On Sept. 13 at a little after 9 a.m. responded to a report of an altercation near the Gorge in East Middlebury — specifically near Route 125 and North Branch Road. Police believe that Dawn C. Ladeau, 51, of Bristol, Vermont had operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and troopers cited her for driving under the influence. State police got help from Middlebury and Bristol police as well as Brandon Area Rescue.• On Sept. 13 at a quarter to 8 p.m. logged a report that Pamela Strong, 49, of Leicester was at a home in Leicester and harassing a person there. Police found Strong and cited her for violation of conditions of release.• On Sept. 15 at just before 9:30 a.m. responded to Red Mill Road in Ferrisburgh for a reported kidnapping. Upon arrival, troopers discovered that no kidnapping had taken place. They met with Hannah Kiran Morrow, 37, of Holyoke, Mass., and later issued her an order not to trespass at the Basin Harbor Resort. Just after 11 p.m. that evening, Morrow returned to the Basin Harbor Resort, and a trooper located her and cited her for unlawful trespass.• On Sept. 15 at 8:30 p.m., while conducting speed enforcement near the intersection of Route 7 and West Salisbury Road in Salisbury, troopers observed a red sedan traveling south, passing another vehicle on Route 7 in excess of the speed limit while vehicles were oncoming. Troopers allege via radar they determined the sedan was traveling 92 mph in a 50 mph zone. Police stopped the sedan and cited Sabra Ballou, 23, of Fall River, Mass., for excessive speed. Troopers also issued her a ticket that could carry a fine of $627 and two points on Ballou’s license.• On Sept. 19 at around 2 p.m. a camper at a campsite in Granville near Route 100 and Leland Jones Road contacted state police to tell them that she hadn’t seen the camper at her neighboring site in about four days. She said the man’s first name was “Horan” but didn’t give his last name.Horan was said to be in his early 30s with short, curly hair, around 5 feet, 7 inches tall, wearing jeans and a light colored shirt. Troopers drove to his campsite and observed nothing suspicious.According to the caller, “Horan” intended to stay at this site for roughly two weeks. His vehicle was described as a red, “90s style” van, unknown make or model, with oxidized paint, and a Maine license plate; it was not present at the scene.While the incident was not considered suspicious, police asked for help from the public in finding the man.The next morning, about 7 a.m., state police said the man had been located and was safe.• On Sept. 20 at a little after 10 p.m. raced to Kampersville in Salisbury for a reported altercation. Troopers allege that Connor A. Lee, 28, of White River Junction had willfully created unreasonable noise and used abusive language in a public place. They cited Lee for disorderly conduct.• On Sept. 22 at a little after 3 p.m. were dispatched to a vandalism complaint on Route 12A where an overpass crosses over the East Granville Brook in the town of Granville. A nearby resident reported the incident after that afternoon observed the walls of the overpass painted with graffiti using explicative language. She said the area was undisturbed on Sept. 14, when she had last noticed it..
