Two brothers were arraigned at Boston Municipal Court in West Roxbury Wednesday for allegedly stealing about $197,146 on Tuesday from the Energy Credit Union, officials say.

At 12:55 p.m., authorities responded to the Energy Credit Union at 156 Spring St. for a robbery in progress, according to a statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

The bank teller, who was one of the two brothers, told investigators that he was working at the teller station when an unknown man, later identified as his brother, “approached his window and wrote a note stating ‘hand it over,’” the statement said.

The bank teller, Jenel Flounoury, 32, of Brockton, entered a closed door containing the main vault and put the thousands of dollars in a blue ATM bag.

According to police, Jenel told them that the unknown man, later identified as Justin Flounoury, 32, of Brockton, took the bag and said “ thank you, sir” before fleeing.

The credit union’s Chief Financial Officer told investigators that by “not looking in his cash drawer, immediately going to the vault without being instructed to do so, and providing more than the amount demanded,” Jenel did not properly follow bank robbery procedures, the statement said.

Authorities were told that Jenel was fired in May 2023 for violating company policy and rehired in August 2024.

Police say they watched Jenel as he left the bank and saw him go into a residence in Brockton, where he and his brother burned clothing on a grill fire, the office said.

At 1:45 a.m., investigators executed a search warrant on the residence, finding a large amount of US currency, officials said. The brothers were arrested.

The Flounoury brothers were charged with larceny over $1,200 and conspiracy, and both were held on $10,000 bail and ordered to stay away from Energy Credit Union, according to the office. They are due back in court on Oct. 30 for pre-trial hearings.

“We’ve seen time and time again employees hatching what they think is a clever plan to steal from their workplace, and then we see those supposedly clever plans unravel, usually very quickly,” Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said in the statement. “The immediate suspicions of the bank officers and some extremely effective work by the investigative agencies involved led to these brothers answering to these charges in court today.”
