Good morning everyone. We have entered the rainy part of our programming in the Northeast as our front drapes itself across the area, and interacts with tropical energy streaming northward.

While we don't expect anything remotely close to what the Southeast will see, soaking rain and thunderstorms will impact New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey today. High pressure will be too weak to protect the area, so look for clouds and the risk of scattered showers to stick around through possibly Sunday.

In the Southeast, our storm system is set to come ashore later this evening. Ahead of it and during, we have a severe weather component to this that will be widespread in scope. As with any landfalling tropical system, severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and widespread brief tornadoes, are a known risk that can do as much damage as the storm itself.

For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for south and central Florida, plus a large portion of Georgia and South Carolina. Anywhere north and east of the center of circulation, look for the possibility of widespread severe weather, up to and including damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and numerous brief tornadoes. We will also this action spread into areas of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky as our storm progresses.

Here is your local NYC Metro forecast -

The clouds are here and rain will develop over the course of the next few hours. Highs will be a muggy low to mid 70's, with the chance of some heavier thunderstorms later today. Clouds stick around tomorrow with the chance of a few showers. Highs in the low to mid 70's again.

Look for more clouds on Saturday with a few scattered showers, then more clouds Sunday with the slight chance of a shower. Highs in the low 70's each day.

Sun will try and return on Monday, but it'll be a tough one as clouds are set to return on Tuesday. Look for more showers Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs in the low to mid 70's throughout the week.
