The Sioux County Worship Tent will host continuous worship from 6 p.m. on Sept. 27 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 28.More than 30 community members from local churches and universities will volunteer their time to lead a one-hour worship set during the event, cumulating in 26 total hours of worship.“We’re interested in bringing the body of Christ together and worshipping as one voice,” said Tyler Miller, an employee at HOME.HOME is a worship and prayer ministry in Sioux Center. The vision behind the Sioux County Worship Tent is based on a verse in Psalm 27: “To gaze on the beauty of the Lord and seek Him in His temple.”Three types of worship will be offered, including musical worship, prayer and scripture reading, with the focus being on musical worship.Miller has led worship at the event since 2021.“One of my first years I was leading a worship set at 3 a.m. with two other guys,” Miller said. “It was the middle of the night, no one was in the tent but us. We were singing these songs to Jesus and felt really strongly the presence of God in the tent with us.”The HOME team is grateful to be in a community that supports public worship.“What a gift that it is that we can have this expression and worship to Jesus set up in the center of our town,” said Alecia Heard, a HOME employee. “You can’t do that in a lot of other countries.”Miller looks forward to seeing people of all ages and backgrounds together in the worship tent.“It’s fun to see the younger people in our area coming and so passionately engaging in worship,” Miller said. “I love seeing Gen Z come up and actually lead some of the sets.”Worship teams from Dordt University in Sioux Center have been involved in the event for several years. This year a worship team from Dordt will help kick off the event with a 9-10 p.m. set on Friday night.Ray Badudu, director of worship arts at Dordt, has led worship in the worship tent previously and looks forward to the opportunity for Dordt’s worship teams to participate in the event again this year.“From a worship arts perspective it’s a fantastic opportunity for students to be doing a bunch of songs in a low-pressure environment,” Badudu said.Badudu appreciates the worship tent for the ways it brings worshippers together, despite potential theological differences.“I think it’s a beautiful thing that HOME is putting this out and inviting a bunch of churches and organizations, and we get to see all these different expressions of people that believe and serve the Lord,” Badudu said.HOME is not a church, instead, they view themselves as a House of Prayer, a supplement to the worship that occurs in local congregations.The HOME building is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday offering live or live-streamed worship and spaces for prayer.“For people who love worship, this is what HOME actually does year-round, and the tent is just a way to bring it outside of our walls,” Miller said.</div></body>
