Harris VP pick Walz to practice in Harbor Springs for debate with Vance

TRAVERSE CITY — As Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance visited Northern Michigan, a report came out that the Democratic vice presidential nominee will also be headed to the area.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the pick of Kamala Harris, is coming to Northern Michigan to practice for next Tuesday’s VP debate.

The New York Times reported that Walz’s debate team will be prepping this weekend in Harbor Springs. The privately held mock debates will include dress rehearsal, moderators and set lighting, they reported.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buittigieg, who lives in Traverse City, will be taking the role of Vance during the mock session.

Walz’s team says he’s planning on making some small public appearances in Harbor Springs over the weekend.
