A large wildfire burning about 10 miles West of Pullman near Onecho has torched about 1,000 acres and has been state mobilized. The blaze was likely started by lightning along Long Hollow Road during Wednesday’s storm. The fire is burning in Whitman County Fire District 13 based out of Onecho. Several volunteer fire districts in Whitman County fought the flames last night. The fire was state mobilized around 10:00 at the request of District 13. That will bring in two strike teams, a hand crew and a bulldozer to help fight the flames. The fire is mostly burning fields but is also threatening some homes and rangeland. There are no mandatory evacuations in place.
