At the Sept. 24 board meeting, the board of commissioners discussed a resolution involving the adoption of the proposed 2025 operating and capital improvement budget, with a proposed property tax levy to the county administrator in the amount of $100,427,279 for the fiscal year of 2025 for consideration during the ensuing months. This translates to a 5.71% tax levy that includes the use of general fund balance.I reviewed my list of appropriations, and I noted that the amount budgeted to go to the Wright County Economic Development Authority, the historical society, the employee medical clinic, and the Maple Lake Library amounted to more than $520,000. This is approximately 0.5% of the levy.This was more than I could justify passing on to the taxpayers.The resolution passed four to one. The date was set for the public hearing related to the 2025 Wright County budget Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Wright County boardroom.I am always available to discuss this or any other Wright County business.
