CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Nearly 750,000 ineligible voter registrants across North Carolina have been removed since the start of 2023, state election officials announced on Thursday ahead of the upcoming November presidential elections.

North Carolina currently has 7.7 million registered voters.

Election officials said registrants can be removed for a variety of reasons including moves, inactive status and unresponsive to mailings, duplicate registrations, not being a U.S. citizen, and being convicted of a felony and serving a sentence, including probation, post-release supervision, or parole.
