Northern Neck dog killing case ends with no-jail plea

A Warsaw man has pled guilty to three charges in a Richmond County case where two dogs were killed.

As previously reported, last March, Richmond County Sheriff's Office called on the public for assistance in a case where Keno and Felon reportedly disappeared from their owner’s residence in Haynesville. The dogs were found shot and stacked on top of each other by the road in neighboring Westmoreland County.

Richmond County Sheriff's Office later announced Earvin David Gray was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors, one fo animal cruelty and one for obstruction of justice along with felony destruction of property.

Court records show Gray stuck a plea whereby his felony was reduced to misdemeanor destruction of property. In return, he pled guilty to all three charges with the agreement that he would receive a 12-month sentence for each charge with all time.

Last Monday, Richmond County Circuit Court Judge John S. Martin signed off on the plea agreement, suspending all jail time. Gray is required to maintain peace and good behavior for a year and to pay $3,000 in restitution to the dogs’ owner, his plea agreement shows.
