Katy and I enjoyed going to the Freestone County Game Management Banquet on Saturday night to take pictures. Breakfast with Santa will be held this Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Green Barn in Fairfield from 9 to 11 a.m. September is almost over. Before we know it, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here.

It is my favorite time of the year as the weather cools off. It has been a hot summer for sure. I love the cooler weather and all of the Christmas decorations. I love the traditions that we have and do from year to year. More than anything, I am reminded that Jesus is the true reason for the season. It is a time of giving and I pray that I can be a blessing to others during this time of the year as well as throughout the entire year.

The following poem is by Forest Witcraft and I remind myself of it daily almost these days. I just pray that I can make an impact on the lives of the students in my class like the teachers in my life impacted me.

“One hundred years from now It won’t matter What kind of car I drove What kind of house I lived in How much money I had in the bank

Nor what my clothes looked like BUT The world may be a little better Because I was important In the life of a child.”

This week’s Bible verse is Psalm 46:10. It says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Sometimes in life, we just need to be still. We are always on the move trying to get everything on our to-do list accomplished. As I was sitting here typing this today, I just had to take a couple of minutes to breathe and listen to a worship song because I was so overwhelmed.

As I have said before, the things we collect on this earth really and truly do not matter. Once we pass away, those things will be left behind just to collect dust and tarnish. What truly matters is our relationship with Jesus Christ.

I am not perfect and I will never be perfect. I just pray that others can see Christ through me daily. I pray that our focus will be on God and not the things of this world because in the end they do not matter at all.

My prayer for us this week is that we will be still in the midst of our busy schedules and know that He is God and that is in control. Until next week, make Him famous in all that you do!
