I’m pretty sure I would have freaked out, thinking it might actually be a tornado.</p><p>You see, the thing about all of the dust devils I’ve witnessed is that every one of them developed on a bright, sunny day. So, I never confused them with tornadoes.</p><p>Fortunately for storm chaser Chad Casey, he has had plenty of training and experience to know the difference even on a day when severe weather is likely.</p><p>Granted, the sky wasn’t particularly menacing when the dust devil formed. But still, that’s a scary-looking dust devil. And fairly powerful as well.</p><p>I realize now that I’m an adult that it’s not recommended, but as a kid, I would walk or run through dust devils. Most of them were small and harmless.</p><p>But I would have run from that dust devil.
