Hurricane Helene is gaining speed as it continues to aim for Florida’s Big Bend region and the Peach State, expected to bring fierce wind and catastrophic damage late Thursday, news experts say.

Some Macon businesses, including local pizza joints, have already announced closures for the remaining week in anticipation of the severe weather. It is still possible to enjoy a delivered pie in the area, but the window to order is closing quickly.

While local pizza restaurants are closely monitoring the weather to see if store hours will change, here is a list of locations to order from:

    Domino’s Pizza

Domino’s on New Street told The Telegraph it is currently operating under normal store hours, but it will close if the weather gets worse. The store was experiencing a two-hour wait on deliveries around lunchtime. Two other local locations couldn’t be reached.

    Papa Johns

The six Papa Johns Pizza locations in Macon were operating under normal business hours until further notice Thursday afternoon, according to store workers. The businesses are closely monitoring the weather to make a decision. All restaurants close at 11 p.m. typically.

    Pizza Hut

The Pizza Hut on Bloomfield Road is open and currently scheduled to serve until midnight. The other Macon location couldn’t be reached.

    Local pizza:

    • Located at 2395 Ingleside Ave., longtime favorite Ingleside Village Pizza announced that it will close its doors early at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

    • Mercer Village Pizza at 1635 Montpelier Ave. will shut its doors at 4 p.m. on Thursday. Store owners said they will closely monitor the storm and provide updates on tomorrow’s store hours.

    • Pig on a Pie workers employees informed The Telegraph that the store intends to stay open all day while attentively watching the weather. The pizza joint will close at 8 p.m., or until the power goes off.

    • Romo’s Pizza is also monitoring the weather for now and will announce updates about schedule changes if necessary.

    • Macon Pizza Company told The Telegraph it is closing at its normal hour, 9:30 p.m.

Store hours listed here are up to date as of publication time, but may change.
