Former LSU star QB Jayden Daniels off to hot start better than a handful of Hall of Fame quarterbacks combined

Former LSU star quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels is already off to an incredible start in the NFL. He's led the Washington Commanders to two consecutive victories. Daniels currently leads all NFL passers in completion rate, interception rate (0%), and is top five by a handful of other measures too.

But there's one stat in particular that already puts Jayden Daniels in rare air alongside some of the best quarterbacks to ever the play the game. Through just three starts, Jayden Daniels already has two games where his team scored on every single drive excluding kneel downs. Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees have just two games that fit that criteria combined throughout their nearly 1,100 career starts. Just unreal.

What's even more impressive when you lay it all out, is dating back to the beginning of the Commanders' game against the Giants in Week 2, Jayden Daniels has scored on 13 consecutive drives, excluding kneel downs.

This streak began with the game against the Giants, which admittedly wasn't pretty for much of the time. Daniels kept moving the ball downfield methodically, but failed to find the end zone even once, scoring on seven consecutive field goal drives. The good thing about that Giants game? Daniels and the Commanders' offense never failed to eclipse at least 40 yards on any single drive.

Daniels completed 79% of his passes making consistently good decisions. And if a big play wasn't available, just like in his time at LSU he smartly tucked the ball and ran for a positive play as he racked up over 40 yards on the ground. But then his game against the Bengals (and former LSU QB Joe Burrow) was far more complete and impressive from beginning to end.

Jayden Daniels kicked off his third career start with four consecutive touchdown drives that amassed 240 yards of offense, averaging 7.5 yards per play through the early portions of the third quarter. Then with the game largely under control, Daniels led two more scoring drives as he personally accounted for nearly 300 yards and three scores through the air and on the ground on the day.

Daniels will have the opportunity to make it three games in a row of non-stop scoring against the Cardinals this week as they're surrendering a league worst completion rate of over 75% and rank 31st in yards per pass attempt allowed to opposing quarterbacks so far. If Daniels keeps up anything close to this absurd pace he's going to quickly become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
