Dodgers 'could make call' for $500 million superstar, per insider

The Los Angeles Dodgers clearly made the most surprising move last offseason.

Los Angeles entered the offseason with one of the best rosters in baseball. The Dodgers had one of the highest payrolls in the league and a star-studded lineup. This didn't slow them down in free agency, though.

The Dodgers somehow were able to land two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani to the largest deal in Major League Baseball history. Los Angeles didn't stop there and also signed young phenom Yoshinobu Yamamoto to a mega deal of his own.

Los Angeles clearly can't be ruled out for any big-name player and could surprise us all once again this winter. The best player who will be available clearly is New York Yankees star Juan Soto.

His upcoming free agency decision has been discussed consistently over the last year, and Los Angeles has been mentioned once again as a landing spot. ESPN's Jorge Castillo even listed Los Angeles among the teams that "could make calls" for Soto this winter.

"The Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers are among the other clubs that could make calls," Castillo said. "The (Washington Nationals) would love a reunion, according to people with knowledge of the situation, but it would take ownership allocating more money for Soto than they were previously willing to offer."

If Los Angeles somehow can find enough money to afford Soto, other teams may not have a chance to win a World Series for years.
