Roy Tucker</figcaption></figure>LE MARS — The Gehlen Catholic volleyball team closed out a sweep over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Tuesday in War Eagle Conference play with an extended 28-26 victory in the third set. The team won 25-13 and 25-18 in the first two sets.“H-M-S played a good game. I think we underestimated them a little,” Gehlen head coach Dan Goebel said as his team picked up the win over a 4-8 Hawks squad. H-M-S hit .212 for the match while Gehlen managed a .286 efficiency. Kate Bonderson led the team with 13 kills and a .684 efficiency. The senior added a block at the net and three ace serves.Aurora Goebel added 10 kills. Rysaiah Sitzmann ended with eight kills and dished out 16 assists, one less than Addi Castle. Grace Kellen had five kills with a .571 efficiency. Addie Konz, Grace Czyz and Kora Bonderson all chipped in two kills. “I thought our setters moved the ball around well and the hitters in those different areas did a good job,” Goebel said. “Over our last few matches, different players got a chance to see some court time and they are proving to be a solid option if needed. This is good to see as we get closer to postseason.”Haley Lubben led the defense with eight digs. She added two ace serves while going a perfect 12-of-12 on her serve attempts. Castle led the team with four aces as the team finished with 12 total aces for the contest.Abby Douma and Kylee Schiphoff led the Hawks with eight kills apiece. They both hit over .300 for the match. Gehlen improved to 4-0 in conference matches and 11-6 overall. They will be at a tournament hosted by Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Saturday. </div></body>
