COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Weston Day of the Ohio State men's cross country team has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. In just his second collegiate race, the native of Dublin, Ohio, and graduate of Dublin Scioto High School placed second among the Buckeyes and 18th overall at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by Minnesota last Friday. He completed the 8K in 25:28.3. Day was one of three Buckeye men in the Top 25, as the squad was fifth among 17 teams. He was also a counter for the Buckeyes in the first race of the season at Akron, where he finished sixth overall, running the 6K in 18:21.7.
