I don't think there are many more legitimate trophies shared between conference teams, even in heated rivalries like the Holy War.That's why we need to start making some Rivarly Trophies. The Big Ten and SEC have them for nearly every game. It's time to start cooking in the Big 12. That brings me to the TuberBowl.Tommy Tuberville is one of those rare figures who managed to alienate not one but two fan bases in his brief, underwhelming stints at Cincinnati and Texas Tech. Starting with the Red Raiders, Tuberville’s time in Lubbock is remembered not for success, but for his infamous bail during a recruiting dinner—literally mid-meal—to take the Cincinnati job. If there’s a more perfect metaphor for his tenure at Tech, I can’t think of one. He was the guy who couldn’t get out of town fast enough, and the feeling was mutual. Tuberville’s style of coaching just didn’t fit the Texas Tech way. A program built on high-flying offenses was shackled under Tuberville’s old-school, conservative approach. Results? Mediocre. Fans? Furious.Then came Cincinnati, where Tuberville’s charm offensive was, well, offensive. After bumbling through four seasons, his final year with the Bearcats was a 4-8 disaster. His legacy there? Being booed off the field while screaming at fans to “Go to hell, get a job!”—a parting shot that pretty much sealed his fate in Cincinnati lore. If you’re hated in Texas and Ohio, you’ve accomplished something.So, what better way to honor this universally despised figure than with a rivalry trophy neither team actually wants to win? A bust of Tuberville, topped with chili, forces the loser to take the trophy home as a reminder of the disaster that was the Tuberville era. The man left behind a trail of frustrated fans, losing seasons, and questionable decisions. Cincinnati and Texas Tech don’t agree on much, but Tuberville’s failure to live up to the hype is a shared bond, worthy of a trophy nobody really wants to touch.</div></body>
