Christina Hendricks sparked a bit of controversy this week when she shared a new advertisement on social media.

The Mad Men actress tested out trilift, a kind of facial cosmetic procedure, for the ad, which she posted on Instagram on Thursday, Sept. 26. The procedure targets the glamour facial muscles to help a person get the “sculpted, defined look we all crave,” Hendricks explained.

The Good Girls star was filmed heading into an office in New York, where she met with a doctor and shared that she had noticed the skin around her mouth was starting to sag. The doctor explained the idea behind trilift, which he said aims to “treat not just the skin but actually the underlying causes of some of these changes” by toning facial muscles through technologies such as “muscle stimulation, topical radio frequency and micro needling.”

Hendricks, 49, was filmed having her own facial muscles worked on for the video. She declared her face “really” looked “toned and lifted” by the time the procedure was over.

The video stirred up controversy among Hendricks’ fans, many of whom urged the actress to avoid cosmetic procedures overall.

“Ugh pls don’t get into this. You’re gorgeous,” one fan wrote, as another quoted something Hendricks said in the video about reclaiming her appearance as a teenager, asking, “Why the hell would you want to ‘look like a teenager’ again?”

One Instagram user alleged that the topical radio frequency technology mentioned in the ad “changes the underlying structures and makes a face lift more challenging in the future.”

Another shrugged off the results that Hendricks said she’d noticed, dubbing them “temporary.”

Several fans left comments praising Hendricks’ appearance and said she doesn’t “need” any cosmetic procedures.

“You are beautiful - you don’t need anything!” one fan wrote, as another agreed, writing she “Can't improve on perfection 🤷🏻.”

Despite the controversy, the ad did seem to have convinced some fans to give the procedure a try.

“This is amazing! You look beautiful Christina! ❤️ I wanna try this,” one Instagram user commented.

“Okay, now we know one of your secrets,” another Instagram user said before urging Hendricks to “Please keep sharing ‘cause we all crave that perfect skin ❤️.”
