A study has revealed the most popular autumn-related baby names .

Experts at the digital marketing agency Hennessey Digital analyzed the latest data from the Social Security Administration to identify which autumn-related baby names were the most used in the U.S. in 2023.

The most popular autumn-related baby name used last year was Jack- with 8,696 babies receiving the name in the U.S. in 2023. Interestingly enough, 13 of those babies were girls, making the name unisex. The name is associated with jack-o'-lanterns, commonly used during the popular Fall holiday Halloween.

In second place was the name Asher, given to newborns 7,933 times in the U.S. last year. The name means "blessed," which relates to Thanksgiving, also in Fall. Scarlett comes in third, with 6,294 U.S. newborns given the name in 2023.

"Since nature witnesses a change to deep and warm colours during autumn, Scarlett reflects the season’s vibrancy," the agency said.

In fourth place is the name Hazel, with 6,178 American babies given the name in 2023. Hazelnuts are harvested during autumn, making Hazel a suitable name for the season. Rowan came in fifth with 5,480 babies born given the name in 2023. The name's connection to Fall comes through Rowan trees that produce bright red berries during the season.

The name Ivy came in sixth, with 5,059 U.S. babies given the name in 2023. Willow came in seventh, with 4,773 newborns receiving the name last year. The willow tree experiences a significant color change in the autumn, making it a standout of the season.

Paisley came in eighth, with 3,732 babies given the name in the U.S. during 2023. In ninth place was Adam, with 3,474 newborns identified with the name in 2023. And finally in tenth place, is Hunter, with 3,454 newborns given the name in 2023.

“It is fascinating to see some of the lesser-known meanings of popular names and how they relate to the autumn season," Hennessey Digital CEO Jason Hennessey said on the findings. "The latest autumnal baby names are certainly eclectic, and we anticipate more creative choices this season as modern parents seek unique titles for their children.

Hennessey shared his thoughts on the newly androgynous name Jack taking the top spot.

“Seeing traditional names such as Jack becoming unisex in modern times is surprising. We wonder what other popular names will soon be redefined and transcend sexes," he said.
