The crash disabled traffic lights and blocked travel lanes for some time Thursday. The tractor-trailer had overturned while turning off the US 20-26 Bypass across West Yellowstone Highway and heading south on WYO 257, WHP District 2 Lieutenant Clint Christensen told Oil City News in an email. The WHP was notified of the crash at 2:44 a.m. “The vehicle had failed to reduce speed when entering the speed zone near the intersection and failed to navigate the left-hand curve in the roadway, resulting in the combination unit overturning onto the passenger side and striking some electronic control boxes in the area before coming to rest in the intersection, blocking the roadway. This resulted in the traffic lights being disabled at this location,” Christensen said. The trailer was carrying food products, and there was no hazmat spill or ongoing safety risk to the public. WYDOT was able to respond immediately and begin replacing electronics and was able to return the traffic signals to service promptly, Christensen said. “We are certainly fortunate this crash did not result in more serious circumstances, and due to the well-established working relationships between the agencies, the scene was able to be quickly controlled, resolved, and returned to service with as little interruption to the morning commute as was reasonable,” Christensen said. </div></body>
