    Infant mortality rate drops

New data shows Illinois’ infant mortality rate has decreased. The Illinois Department of Public Health announced in 2021 the infant mortality rate decreased to 5.6 deaths per 1,000 live births compared to 6.5 per 1,000 in 2018.

The agency said the current rate is slightly above the national rate of 5.4 and continues to show racial disparities that persist nationally for infant mortality.

    Lottery grants for vets

More than $860,000 is being awarded to 10 Illinois organizations that provide services to veterans and their families across Illinois.

The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs announced the money comes from Illinois Lottery Veterans’ Cash Grants and will address veteran homelessness, post-traumatic stress treatment, behavioral health treatment and workforce development.

A popular motorcycle training course is resuming in areas throughout the state.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the program is available on a limited basis offering new to seasoned riders advanced techniques. More information can be found at IDOT’s training courses website .
