    All eyes are on Texas.

Regardless of ranking, the Longhorns carry a target on their back each season. That target gets bigger the higher Texas is ranked. Through four weeks of the 2024 college football season, Steve Sarkisian's squad is the consensus No. 1 team in the country.

Texas has dominated each of its opponents thus far. More impressively, the Longhorns have one of the top defenses in the nation that has allowed just 22 points through four games.

Still, Sarkisian does not want his team to feel complacent.

"What you think of us is irrelevant, what we do on the field is what matters. That is what it is and that is the belief our team has," Sarkisian said during a media availability this week about being the No. 1 team in the country.

"In this day and age of polls, polls are kind of irrelevant. There is a 12-team College Football Playoff and to finish No. 1 at the end, you are going to have to go earn it."

Sarkisian has created an exceptional culture at Texas and appears to have the makings of what it takes to lead a premier program to the highest level of success. The Longhorns will certainly need to be consistent each week in order to remain atop the ranking.

Texas will open SEC play against Mississippi State on Sept. 28. It's unclear if Arch Manning or Quinn Ewers will get the start behind center, but you can assure Sarkisian's squad won't take the Bulldogs lightly.
