The possibilities for having fun as a Shriner are endless.”This year, their fun continues as they take on fellow BBQ rival teams at Pensacola Eggfest.What you may not know about Team Shrine &amp; Swine:Their secret ingredient: “The secret ingredient that sets us apart from the competition is that we have no secret ingredient! We love sharing our food with anyone who wants to cook it and we want people to share the food we cook with everyone they can! We love to compete, but we also love seeing people melt when they taste our food! That is the secret ingredient to us!”If they could only cook with one ingredient: “We gotta say it… WHITE LIGHTNING BABY.. Boars Night Out White Lightning Double Garlic Butter is one of the most versatile seasonings on the market and is amazing on anything you put it on! These guys are also awesome people and give a lot to the community so that makes it even better. You gotta add them to your spice cabinet!”The most unexpected dish you’ve cooked on the Big Green Egg: “The Big Green Egg is so versatile! There are so many different things that you can cook on it! The most unusual thing any of us have ever cooked on the green egg would be during a power outage from a hurricane years back (how appropriate)! It was breakfast… and we had some cinnamon rolls, we loaded them up in a cast iron pan, and threw them in and hoped for the best! Gotta say they were some of the best cinnamon rolls ever!”Their best BBQ fail or mishap: “MISHAPS??? We don’t have those. That’s why we are winners!!”If the Shriners could have one famous person on their cook team: “We gotta say that if we had any famous person cooking by our side, it would have to be John Wayne. John was a Shriner… which means he was a brother, and not only that, but he’s a certified bad a$$. You know that man could cook and we’d love to get to have that opportunity to have cooked with him!”The Smack Talk: “Gotta beat them Hot Spot Boys! They are always placing and we gotta take them down and let them swim with the fishes!!”The competition is heating up and the excitement is growing but it’s not too late to grab your BBQ buddies and cook up your own tried and true recipes.Pensacola Eggfest will take place at Noon (or earlier if you snag a VIP ticket), Sunday November 10th, 2024, at Hadji Temple, 800 W 9 Mile Rd, Pensacola, FL 32534 . The event hosts BBQ teams and backyard cooks from all over the United States who share two things: a love of cooking and the joy of giving back to their communities.
