<div>42nd Annual Fall Fest set for SaturdayThe 42nd Annual Fall Fest will be held on Saturday, September 28, and the all-day event is packed with activities for young and old. This year’s theme is “Concordia. Come grow with us!”Jim and Joyce Coppoc will be the Fall Fest parade grand marshals, and Katelyn Bauer, the daughter of Bradley and Jennifer Bauer, will be the Fall Fest parade junior grand marshal.The parade is scheduled for 10 a.m., with registration from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at 903 Broadway St.Jim and Joyce Coppoc have been business owners in Concordia for many, many years. Even in retirement, they attend almost every Concordia Panther sporting event. They have even fed the kids and/or donated to the teams, in support.Katelyn Bauer is this year’s button design winner. Each year, the Fall Fest Button Committee coordinates with the Concordia Elementary School’s fourth grade art program to design the Fall Fest Button. Each button has a number on the back for a raffle and prizes. The raffle drawing will be at 1 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce, but you do not need to be present to win. Prizes include a Blackstone Grill, donated by Grain Belt Express; pizza for a year, donated by Gambino’s Pizza; and a variety of Chamber Bucks.Some new things happening this year include three bands performing at the Broadway Plaza: Hazzard County, Women of Rock, and Vandelyn Kross. The Warehouse 315 Venue and Event Center will also have live entertainment and a cash bar from 4 - 11 p.m.This year’s Fall Fest has a new tier of Platinum sponsors, including Cloud County Community College, The Learning Tree Children’s Center, Cloud County CO-OP Elevator Assn., The Dog Guy Grooming, and The Dragastin Agency. The Fall Fest committee wanted to thank all of those who supported the event this year, including the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Sponsors.During the week prior to Fall Fest, there will be a Medallion Hunt, sponsored by Farm Bureau Financial Services. The Frank Carlson Library’s Annual Book Sale will be held on Thursday, 6 - 8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The sale features gently used books, audiobooks, puzzles, DVDs, and CDs, organized by type including Fiction, Non-Fiction, Large Print, and Children’s. The sale will be self-serve in the Carlson Room. All items are available by donation only and can be paid by cash or local check. No change will be given.Also on Friday, at 7 p.m., The Marriage Game will be held at the Broadway Plaza.On Saturday, a money scramble, sponsored by Central National Bank, is set for 8:45 a.m. Following the money scramble there will be the turtle races and frog jumping contests, which are sponsored by Concordia Chevrolet and Concordia Auto Mart.On Saturday a huge variety of food and craft vendors will be open from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in downtown Concordia. There will also be free balloons by Elk State Bank at the kid’s corner, and face painting by OCCK Infant and Toddler, located in front of Security 1st Title Company.Local tourist attractions open throughout the day will include the Brown Grand Theatre, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Cloud County Tourism, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Cloud County Historical Society Museum, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.; National Orphan Train Museum, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.; CCCC Technical Innovation Center - Open House, 3 - 5 p.m.; Neighbor to Neighbor - Coffee and Cookies, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.; POW Camp Concordia - Tours, 4 p.m.; and CMS and CHS Tours - every 30 minutes, 2 - 4 p.m.There will be a kid’s corner from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. that will include bouncy houses; a fishing game; prizes and a photo booth, which is sponsored by Farm Country Ford. CCCC athletes and the student senate will be monitoring the kid’s corner.A human fruit machine game will be held in front of the Chamber of Commerce. It is similar to a slot machine but with human spinners. Free-will donations to the Concordia fireworks will be accepted.Following the parade, at 11 a.m. there will be pony rides ($3) and barrel rides ($1), in front of the Cloud County Historical Society Museum.Also beginning at 11 a.m., there will be local entertainment in front of VIP Majestic Theatre including Tammy Bogle, and The Flying Debris Juggler, Richard Holmgrem, as well as more live entertainment throughout the day. Special thanks to CO-OP Elevator Assn., CO-OP Distribution, and CO-OP Terminal for sponsoring The Flying Debris Juggler.Cruise In, the Heartland Auto Club’s Show-n-Shine, will be located at the Brown Grand Theatre’s parking lot from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a trophy for the People’s Choice award. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Bring out your classic cars, trucks, and rat rods.Starting at 2 p.m. at the Broadway Plaza there will be a cornhole tournament and beer garden, sponsored by Easy G’s. At Harold Clark Stadium, there will be a fifth-grade football game starting at 2 p.m. and a sixth grade football game at 3:30 p.m.Reunion Fest will start at 4 p.m. at the Broadway Plaza, presented by the classes of 1979 and 1980, with the bands Hazzard County from 4-5:30 p.m.; Women of Rock from 6-7 p.m., and Vandelyn Kross from 8-11 p.m.T-shirts for this year’s Fall Fest are on sale all day, provided by Altius Awards and Apparel.</div>
