Jon Murray, Tech’s cross country head coach, said for this meet he's only bringing runners who don't usually compete in the bigger meets to help rest those who do.All seven of the competing runners will make their season debut at this meet.“It's a good opportunity for those who maybe don't get to go to some of the bigger meets,” Murray said. “We have another big meet in two weeks at Notre Dame, so that group is not running at this meeting.”At the previous meet on Sept. 20, Tech earned the team title behind a first-overall finish in the women's 5k and second overall in the men's 8k, according to Tech Athletics. Sheilah Bii and Edwin Kiprono spearheaded the effort, finishing first in their respective race, according to Tech Athletics.Jon Murray said he was impressed by the effort and performance of the group he brought to the meet.“She (Bii) almost set a new course record. That was awesome,” Murray said. “Edwin did a really good job leading the group, also, he ran a top-five time on that course.”The 5k race will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday. This will be Tech's second-to-last trip to New Mexico before returning on Oct. 11, according to Tech Athletics.</div></body>
