Head coach Greg Gard had some good things to say about Freitag, but noted he still needed to work on his understanding of the game. “The athletic ability is there. It’s just a matter of maturing in terms of how you see the game," said Gard in an <a href="https://x.com/ZachHeilprin/status/1839422633689186677">interview with Zach Heilprin</a>. "You gotta know when you're in a school zone and when you're on the interstate."Still, it's a reportedly good start for the freshman who could play some significant minutes for the Badgers this season. He'll be in competition with transfer Camren Hunter for the starting point guard role, but both will see the court often regardless of the depth chart listing.
