(WCHS) — Mason County officials announced the countywide burn ban that was implemented last week will be lifted after much-needed rainfall swept through the region.The Mason County Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management announced the ban will be lifted, effective on Friday, according to a social media post.The ban was enacted due to historic drought conditions that have impacted much of West Virginia and southern Ohio in recent months that saw warm temperatures with very little rain.The burn ban prohibited all outdoor burning due to increased risk of bush and wildfires, according to the Mason County Commission.While county officials lifted the county ban, they reminded residents to follow the guidelines of the Division of Forestry, and the statewide fire season burn ban that runs from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31.</div></body>
