--Yesterday afternoon, Superintendent of Pierz Schools George Weber informed students that Pioneer Elementary was named of the National Blue Ribbon Schools in the United States. Being a National Blue Ribbon School is the highest award our Nation can give to a school. Pioneer Elementary was nominated by the Minnesota Department of Education because our achievements in Mathematics and English place in the Top 15% of all Schools in our State. Out of the 131,000 schools in the United States, only 356 are named National Blue Ribbon Schools and only 7 in Minnesota were given this honor. The announcement was given by U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cordona who said the honor is that other schools can see what has been accomplished and to continue to show other schools what is being accomplished at Pioneer Elementary. Congratulations to Pioneer Elementary School in Pierz for that great honor.
