Oh, No! a retired retail manager here.. there is NEVER an excuse to be on your cell phone while you're on the clock, IMO that is stealing my payroll dollars...I would have called him into my office to explain the personal phone use policy again with a write up, and if there was a next time he would have been written up once more and removed from my schedule. I removed many from my schedule for the same thing. I hired employees to work not to use/ play on their cell phone while they're supposed to be working... Period not up for debate.
