MINOT, N.D.– The Minot Majette’s swim and dive team have been showing up and showing out this season, as they have started out the season strong with an 8-0 record. Now, this season the Majette’s are looking for a change, as they’ll look win their first state title in 10 years.

The Mighty Majette swim and dive team are coming for it all this season, but there’s a special group in particular who wants it more than anyone. That group are the 11 seniors that this Majette’s team posses. With their experiences from years past, the Majette’s believe that this year is the year, where they’ll take that step further into becoming state champs.

“We’re doing really well. We have a big group of seniors this year. There’s eleven of them and a lot of them have been on the team for a long time. So, there’s a lot of veterans who have been at that State tournament and the WDA Tournament and kind of know what to expect”, said head Coach Emily Jensen.

“I’d love to see us win state or WDA. I’d love to see some more of our kids qualify, and cut a lot of time and then hopefully we can place at state for those that we bring”, said Sam Vonbokern.

State champion Ava Williamson believes that this years team is different. She believes that the MAGI are only as strong as their weakest link.

“I think we have one of the best chances we’ve had in a long time to win state hopefully. We have strong relays, strong divers, and we have a lot of girls who want to step up and a lot of girls who have a lot of drive to win. So, hopefully we have a good chance this year”, said Ava Williamson.

The Majette’s have fire power all over the pool, but one of the sharpest tools in their shed comes from dive. Senior leader and gymnastics superstar, Haley Conklin will look to go out on her senior year as a state champion in back to back years.

“I defiantly been watching a lot of videos of my diving from previous years, and I’ve defiantly been working on my form and execution of my dives, because I have the dives that I need and I just need to nail them and try to work on the little things and try to critique the little things and get them the best that I can”, said Haley Conklin.
