    MIDDLE SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Springfield sweeps Pattillo

    Springfield took care of Pattillo Middle of Tarboro in three sets in Wednesday’s Tricounties Athletic Conference volleyball match on the Wildcats’ floor.

    Springfield, now 3-2, got 16 service points, five aces and two kills from Presley Speight while Mollie Dilda served 10 points with seven aces to go with two kills. Valeria Gaona had seven aces in her 10 points while Skylar Kirby totaled four aces, four assists and two kills.

    The Wildcats visit Forest Hills on Monday.

    DASH sweeps WCA

    The Downeast Association of Sports for Homeschoolers (DASH) chalked up another sweep Tuesday as the United eased past visiting Wilson Christian 25-22, 25-18 at the Daniels Chapel Church gym.

    Brooklyn Aldrich served six aces to lead the United, now 11-0 on the season, while Jailyn Ange totaled three aces, two kills, a block and a dig. Chloe Daniels had two aces and a dig and Katelyn Daniels served two aces to go with a kill. Willow Webb added a dig and an ace.

    Cyclones come up short at CC

    WINTERVILLE — Community Christian suffered a 5-4 setback Thursday at Christ Covenant, dropping the Cyclones to 4-3 on the season.

    Ashton Bradshaw and Asher Murphy each scored two goals for CCS while Maurice Ruffin made two saves in goal.

    The Cyclones will be the guests of Greenfield on Monday afternoon, Sept. 30.

    Wildcats pummel Pattillo 10-1

    Unbeaten Springfield won its fourth straight game with a 10-1 whipping of Pattillo on the Wildcats’ pitch Wednesday. The match ended via the mercy rule with more than 11 minutes remaining.

    Moises Reyes Flores and Oliver Garcia each knocked in three goals while Flores added two assists. Also scoring a goal for the Wildcats were Ivan Baca Salazar, Danny Amberiz, Oliver McIntosh and Ty Bryant while Brandon Holmes, Ty Bryant and Eli Nicols each had an assist.

    The Wildcats totaled 16 shots on goal to three by Pattillo.

    “It was a total team effort to win this game,” said head coach Mahlon Mills.
