Garner Hayfield Ventura Community Schools Superintendent Ken Kasper wants the public to understand that this is for much needed improvements in the school buildings.The bond referendum will allow the district to issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $21.4 million. This will provide funds to remodel, repair, improve, furnish, and equip its existing elementary/middle school building and its high school.District patrons are currently levied at $9.87 which means that GHV currently ranks as the 5th lowest out of 13 neighboring districts, indicating a relatively low tax burden on its residents. The proposed increase would mean GHV’s rate would rise to $10.72, placing it 8th lowest out of 13, moving the district into a more central position within the region. Only Forest City ($10.83), Belmond-Klemme ($11.01), West Fork ($11.25), North Butler ($12), and Eagle Grove ($12.36) pay more.Kasper wants the patrons of Garner Hayfield Ventura to know as much as possible to make an informed decision on the measure. The board held a public meeting this past week in the Elementary cafeteria.
