Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph may bring down tree limbs causing power outages. Driving, especially on north-south roads, may be challenging because of the wind. The center of the storm is expected to slide farther to the northwest, stalling out in Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois.Without a steering mechanism (the jetstream is too far north to push it along), the storm will meander roughly in place through the weekend, weakening over time. With the storm remaining nearby, scattered showers and breezes are likely through the weekend and into early next week.A cold front bulldozes its way through the region on Tuesday and finally shoves the remnants of Helene out of the area. Scattered showers will remain likely on Tuesday as the front passes through the state.High pressure builds into the region on Wednesday with the center moving directly over Ohio on Thursday.
